How The Journey Began
Jacqueline's first love was ballet. That love introduced her to Pilates. Over the last 25+ years the role Pilates has played in her life has changed, but has always been there. Starting as the conditioning program at her ballet school, then as an instructor through university until her first child was born, as a ballet teacher conditioning her students. And the most recent part of her journey, and what has helped her realize her passion.
Where the Passion Comes From
In spring of 2018, Jacqueline underwent complex brain surgery to deal with a brain malformation that went haywire after a car accident two years earlier. After spending time getting her feet back under her and recovering, she set her mind on getting back in the gym, and gaining back the strength and endurance that she had lost. However the gym wasn’t what was needed. After months of working out, flaring up, and forced rest, she realized this cycle wasn’t going to get her where she wanted to be. And that’s when Pilates became the path back to a healthy and strong Jac. By going back to a modality created as a rehabilitation practice, Jacqueline was able to strengthen her body while keeping proper alignment and without stressing her joints, especially her neck and shoulders. It was easy to adapt movements to meet Jacqueline where she was in her healing journey, and support her progress not hinder it.
Outside the Studio
When not in the studio, or attending continuing education, you'll find Jacqueline hanging out with her Husband, and two littles. They'll spend time most every weekend hiking the Ozarks, or taking their dogs to run somewhere fun. Jacqueline also loves spending time in the kitchen, working on and adapting recipes to fit her daughters specific diet. Eosinophilic Esophagitis means baking and cooking wheat, egg, dairy, soy, fish, shellfish, and tree nut free. Thankfully after 9+ years, Jacqueline has perfected the must have recipes, and has the perseverance and experience to adapt other recipes when needed. You can find some of those recipes here on the blog. And if you're looking for something specific, just ask!
